Frequently Asked Questions
How secure is my data?
All data stored on InYourSafe is protected by the most advanced encryption technology available. Each document and piece of data is encrypted based on your secret key. Connections between your computer and our server are secured with state-of-the-art “Secure Sockets Layer” (SSL) cryptographic protocols—the same security used for online banking. The greatest security risk is from human error. Never give out your password or your secret key, and be very careful when accessing your account at work or from a public computer.
How does InYourSafe prevent identity theft?
Much of the identity theft you hear about in the news results from personal information stored by big companies that’s accessible by other companies and agencies. Our system encrypts each piece of data individually so that it’s available only to you and those you specify. Even if another customer gives their password and secret key to the wrong person, only that customer’s data can be accessed. Your data will still be safe.
Do I need my own fax number?
No, we provide you with a fax number on your InYourSafe fax cover page, along with a unique barcode for your account. Any faxes sent to the provided fax number using your barcoded cover sheet will show up in your fax inbox.
How many documents can I store?
This depends on the size of your documents, of course, but none of our non-business customers has even come close to using up the 5 gigabytes of storage provided. Five gigabytes will store more than 15,000 Word documents or 500 uncompressed high resolution pictures. And if you need additional storage, it’s always available and very affordable.
